ON THE RADAR SCREEN
The issues and opportunities confronting the public sector are often diverse and dynamic. Here's what's on our radar screen at the moment:
The need to refresh our public organizations with next-generation talent. Current projects include the Oregon
Performance Internship, the Public Sector Financial Management Fellows, and the recently launched
eGov Interns program. The firm is also assisting the Oregon Independent
Colleges Foundation in its 2006 launch of the Oregon Management Internship.
The need to alert the public to the deepening fiscal crisis facing the nation and to promote dialogue as to what it means to civic capacity locally. In
early December 2005, GovernmentWise, in partnership with the Concord Coalition, sponsored a series of meetings,
forums, and interviews that were held in Portland, Oregon with the GAO's Comptroller General David
Walker and several other national thought leaders from the Committee for Economic Development and AARP to explore the scope of the fiscal crisis
confronting the United States, what it means to our future, and what we might do to mitigate its effects. Free events were held for the general public,
elected officials, business leaders, and young people in high school, college and recent entrants to the world of work.
The role of globalization and its impact on communities.. whether they will be beneficiaries or victims. The firm is exploring the notion that
institutional and place-to-place relationships are the new capital of the global economy. GovernmentWise is working with its partners Global Resolutions, NetForm, and the Urban Age
Institute to develop educational and planning activities to allow clients to build and evaluate their portfolio of relationships.
