ABOUT THE FOUNDER
George Beard is founder of GovernmentWise Inc., a consultancy focusing on public sector innovation, performance improvement, and development of next-generation leaders.
During his 30-year career, he has split his time between the public and private sectors, much of it involving the deployment of technology and pursuit of innovation. Mr. Beard has worked for several technology and software firms (Unisys, Oracle, Retek) in a variety of roles (global alliance management, global account management, corporate communications, business development, consulting). He also has nearly 15 years of public sector experience including stints with the U.S. Department of Justice, Bonneville Power Administration, State of Oregon, Multnomah County, and Santa Barbara County.
George has extensive teaching experience as an adjunct faculty member at Willamette University, the University of Oregon, Lewis & Clark College, Marylhurst University, and, currently, with Portland State University's Mark O. Hatfield School of Government. He also serves as a Senior Fellow at the Center for Digital Government and as a board member of the La Salle Foundation.
He has earned degrees from Michigan State University (B.A.), the State University of New York at Albany (M.S.), and Portland State University (M.P.A.).
